Harold G. HewittHarold G. Hewitt, 81, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Robings Manor Nursing Home in Brighton. He was born on November 25, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Harold L. and Mable A. (Williams) Hewitt, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his sister and brother in law: Shirley and Walter Loebel of St. Peter's, Missouri, two daughters and sons in law: Victoria H. and Michael Rollins of Fair Oaks, California, Kathy A. Hewitt and her husband: Glen Taylor of Gillette, Wyoming, three grandchildren: Douglas Bundren, Stephen Bundren, Bob Hewitt-Gaffney, two great grandchildren: Tiffany Masters, Taylor Bundren, and Bob Kasten, the son that he never had. He is also survived by his special lady friend, Opal Hicks, four nieces and a nephew.

He was formerly employed as a bricklayer. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union #1 in St. Louis. He was a member of the Alton Eagles Aerie #254. As a young man he was active in the Order of DeMolay. 

In accordance with his wishes, he gifted his body to Washington University. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 11:30am until time of memorial services at 12:30pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Monsignor Kenneth Steffen will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ritual Team of VFW Post 1308 of Alton. 

Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony's Hospice.
