Robert W. McDaniel Sr., 75, passed away at 4:45pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at his residence. He was born on October 24, 1935, in Peach Orchard, Missouri the son of the late Douglas L. and Mavis (Billington) McDaniel. He married the former Gloria J. "Jeanie" Berry on August 13, 1960 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and son in law: Roxanne of Sacramento, California, Toni and Ken Leeds of Granite City, one son: Robert McDaniel Jr. of Chillicothe, Missouri, eight grandchildren: David Hagston, Brandon Hagston, Tiffany Hagston, Amber McDaniel, Casandra McDaniel, Joshua McDaniel, Jade McDaniel, Anthony Leeds, two great grandchildren: Emily Macarthy, Alexandria Maroon, one sister and brother in law: Patti and Bruce Windectnect of Tennessee, two brothers and sisters in law: Harold and Faye McDaniel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gerald and Betty McDaniel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was formerly employed at Beverly Farm Foundation as a caregiver and as a supervisor. He enjoyed reading, fishing, watching television, and working. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren: Jason and Skye Gresham.

In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home. A time of reflection will be held at 4pm at the funeral home with military honors and final salute by the Alton Leathernecks.
