James Calvin

Cottage Hills:

James A. Calvin, 67, passed away at 2:50pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at his residence. He was born on August 17, 1956, in Wood River, the son of the late Alfred and Florence (Kleiboeker) Calvin. Survivors include three brothers: Alfred (Cheryl) Calvin of Richview, Illinois, David (Katherine) Calvin of Cottage Hills, Tim Calvin of Cottage Hills, eight nieces and nephews, and three step grandchildren.

James worked as a stocker at Wal Mart prior to his retirement. He enjoyed a simple life. He loved playing with his dog, George. Jim grew lovely flowers and kept a well manicured yard. He dabbled in canvas and acrylic painting. He kept daily track of fireballs that fell from space and the weather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: John Calvin.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
