Albert J. "Jake" Bienemann

Albert J. “Jake” Bienemann, 94, passed away at 11:04am on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Robings Manor in Brighton. He was born on May 19, 1929, in South Roxana, the son of the late Albert J. and Iona Marie (Peterson) Bienemann. He married the former Fay McKenzie on May 21, 1949, in Hartford and they were married for fifty – six years prior to her passing in 2005. Survivors include his children and their spouses: Carolyn and Jim Kelly of Brighton, Diana and Ralph Thompson of South Roxana, Alvin Bienemann of Wood River, Mike and Jennifer Bienemann of Pleasant Hill, Beverly Hayes of Wood River, his grandchildren and their spouses: Tonya and Michael Flatt, Shawn and Kara Thompson, Tara and Joel Groman, Donald Hayes, Joshua and Rachel Gaither, Andrew Bienemann, Ashley Bienemann, Taylor Bienemann, several step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister: Patricia Sapienza of New Hampshire, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Jake was a 1947 graduate of Roxana High School and was employed as a bus mechanic for the Roxana School District for many years. He later worked as a diesel mechanic at Kenworth, Eejay, and Stahly Cartage. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering. He was a member of United Lovejoy Presbyterian Church in Wood River and attended St. Paul’s United Methodist in Brighton.

IN addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jim and Ruby Bienemann, Rosalie and Clay Revenburgh, his brother in law: John Sapienza, a grandson: Henry Bienemann, a granddaughter: Jennifer Gaither, a great granddaughter: Megan Flatt, and a daughter in law: Kathleen Bienemann.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Michael Flatt will officiate. Entombment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
