Alberta J. Knight, 82, passed away at 7:16pm on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was born on July 21, 1941, in East Alton, the daughter of the late Martin Thomas and Eva Mae (Pierce) Rhyne, Sr. Survivors include her significant other of fifty – two years: Wayne Hellemeyer of Rosewood Heights, two daughters: Donna Heitzman and her companion: Dennis of Townsend, Wisconsin, Rhonda Blair and her husband: Danny of East Alton, two sons: Samuel Knight of East Alton, Michael Knight and his wife: Becky of Wood River, six grandchildren: Jeff (Lauri) Herrin, Jamie (Lance) Griggs, Amy (Rick) LaVine, Mandy Knight, Michael Knight, Samantha Knight, twelve great grandchildren, twelve great - great grandchildren, a sister and brother in law: Nancy (Frank) Bartlett, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Alberta was employed as a rim fire packer at Olin Winchester for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed playing bingo and playing Keno at the casino.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Timothy Hale and her brothers: Martin Thomas “Smokey” Rhyne, Jr., William Rhyne, Marvin Rhyne, John Rhyne, Ernie Rhyne, Everett Rhyne, and her sister: Esther Cope.

Cremation rites will accorded. In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, October14, 2023, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be accepted at the funeral home.
