St. Louis, Missouri: Anthony Messmer, 47, passed away at 11:50am on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at his residence. He was born on November 26, 1966, in Centreville, Illinois the son of Janet (Royal) Thompson and the late Michael Messmer. Survivors include his mother and step – father: Janet and Paul Thompson of Farmington, Missouri, three sisters and two brothers in law: Nicki and Marc Godare of Columbia, Illinois, Emilie and Rob Hodge of Pevely, Missouri, Sarah Similey of Farmington, Missouri, one brother: Paul Thompson Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, his maternal grandmother: Mary Royal of Cahokia, Illinois, and two nieces: Alexandra Godare, Ashley Godare, a nephew: Michael Similey, a step – brother: John of Oklahoma, and his loving partner of ten years: Joseph Pietrzykowski. He was formerly employed as an assistant to the President and Chief Executive Officer of La Rabida Children’s Hospital. He was a volunteer with the St. Louis Effort for AIDS. He volunteered at the Lincoln Park Conservatory where he helped with after school tutoring. He was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa: Gerland Royal. In celebration of his life, private services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Jane Levdansky will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the St. Louis Effort for AIDS or to the Kerryblue Terrier Foundation in Slovenia, California.
