Beverly J. "Bev" Baker

Bethalto: Beverly J. “Bev” Baker, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend. But “Grandma” was her favorite title of all. To be sure, she deeply loved everyone in her family, but she adored her four grandsons, Zach, Alex, Max, and Sam, forever to be known as “Grandma’s Little Angels.” They were the lights of her life. Bev enjoyed camping, fishing, and Christmas. But her favorite thing was making waffles for her Little Angels. She served as a secretary for the Church of the Nazarene for over forty years. She and her husband Ray received the Distinguished Service Award from the Church of the Nazarene in 2013. She was a member of the Wright City Church of the Nazarene in Wright City, Missouri. She was born on May 13, 1943, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Ross and Phyllis Gamble Ross. She married Ray Baker on January 19, 1963, in East Liverpool, Ohio, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Ralynne and Joseph Case of Bethalto, a son and daughter in law: Scott and Erin Baker of Columbia, Missouri, four grandchildren: Zachary and Becca Case of Fairbanks, Alaska, Alexander Case of Kansas City, Missouri, Max Baker of Columbia, Missouri, Sam Baker of Columbia, Missouri, a great granddaughter: Amelia Case of Fairbanks, Alaska, two sisters and brothers in law: Karen and Larry Bixby of Florissant, Missouri, Joyce and Tom Baker of Florissant, Missouri, a brother and sister in law: Vilas and Patsy Gamble of Bedford, Ohio, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Did we mention her grandsons? In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 until time of funeral services at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Wright City Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Daniel Mund and Pastor Joe Purl will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
