Beverly "Bev" Werts

East Alton: Beverly “Bev” Werts, 56, passed away at 9:55pm on Thursday evening, January 4, 2018, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. She was born on October 3, 1961, in Wood River, the daughter of Evelyn (Bugg) Mahanay and the late Alba Mahanay. She married Roger Werts on September 13, 1986, in Alton, and he survives. Other survivors include a son and daughter in law: Daniel and Danielle Werts of Ankeny, Iowa, a granddaughter: Addison, an expected granddaughter, two sisters: Deb Ogle of East Alton, Candice Mehmetli of O’Fallon, Missouri, a nephew and his wife: Andrew and Amber Ogle of Wood River, one niece: Ela Mehmetli of O’Fallon, Missouri and her dog: Savannah. Bev was formerly employed as a bus driver for East Alton Elementary. She served for a term on the East Alton Library Board. She was a member of Fosterburg Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School. In addition to her dad, she was preceded in death by one son: Bradley Werts. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 9am until time of funeral services at 10am on Tuesday at Fosterburg Baptist Church. Rev. Bob Harris and Pastor Troy Crain will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Andrew Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund at Fosterburg Baptist Church.
