Carolyn Fahnestock

Alton: Carolyn Fahnestock, 71, passed away at 8:10am on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at her residence. She was born on April 2, 1946, in Alton, the daughter of the late Bob and Jeannie (Beiser) Churchich. She married Thomas B. Fahnestock on June 10, 1967, at St. Patrick’s Church in Alton, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Ann and David Voss of Godfrey, two sons and daughters in law: Michael and Andrea Fahnestock of Godfrey, Tim and Amy Fahnestock of Brighton, eight grandchildren: Joe, Katie, Noah, Jonah, Abby, Owen, Charlie, Will, a sister and brother in law: Deborah and Dave Williams of Granite City, and her step – mother: Ruth Churchich of Edwardsville. Carolyn was formerly employed at St. Mary’s School in Alton for twenty – seven years as the assistant to the Principal and where she wore many hats. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton where she was very active. She loved spending time with her family. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 3pm to 8pm on Friday, September 29, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Father Jeremy Paulin O.M.V. and Father John Paul Klein O.M.V. will be the concelebrants. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School in Alton or to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton. On behalf of the Fahnestock family, we would like to thank BJC Hospice of Alton and the families at St. Mary’s and Marquette Catholic High School.
