Catherine Franke

Wood River: Catherine Franke, 85, passed away at 12:02am on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on April 14, 1932, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Arno and Goldie (McGugh) Lasseter. She married George F. Franke on July 11, 1952, in Thayer, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 2013. Survivors include one daughter and a son in law: Cathi and Tom Stalcup of Wood River, five grandchildren and their spouses: George Christopher and Sarah Plank of Norman, Oklahoma, Alison and Mike Beachum of East Alton, Jeremy and Irene Stalcup of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alicia Stalcup of Godfrey, Christopher and Rachel Stalcup of Cottage Hills, ten great grandchildren: Austin Beachum, Morgan Beachum, Victoria Beachum, Kenny Beachum, Ellie Beachum, William Plank, Emma Plank, Gwennie Plank, Mia Stalcup, and Isabella Stalcup. Catherine was formerly a self - employed beautician. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. She was a member of Abundant Life Church in Alton. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: Barbara Leah Caudel, and a brother: Leroy Thomas Lasseter. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton. Memorials are suggested to the Varsity Cheerleaders at East Alton Wood River High School.
