Celesta Mcdonough

Celesta McDonough, 87, of Hartford, Illinois passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born February 16, 1929 at St. Joseph Hospital in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late Lowell W. and Gladys L. (Vaughn) Crossman. She married Eugene T. McDonough on June 28, 1947 in Hartford and he passed away in 1985. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, loved spending time in the kitchen baking many treats and enjoyed her days of working in her yard and being with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert McDonough of Hartford and Gary E. and Karen McDonough of Bethalto; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline McDonough of Hartford; three grandchildren, Kary Lynn McDonough-Snaza and husband, Chris Snaza of Rowlett, Texas, Dana Leigh McDonough of Hartford and Erin Michelle McDonough of Hartford; very special cousin; several nieces; nephews; other extended family; neighbors and many friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Paul McDonough and a very special cousin, Vivian Barnes In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Pitchford Funeral Home, 2555 Vaughn Road in Wood River, Illinois from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 where funeral services will be held on at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children and may be accepted at the funeral home.
