Charlene Carter – Anders, 83, passed away at 2:30pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at her residence. She was born on July 31, 1939, in Alton, the daughter of the late Melvin Lacey and Vircil (Hirschfeld) Telkamp. She married Clifford Leroy Carter and he preceded her in death in 2002. She then married Malcolm Anders and he survives. Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law: Curtis and Teresa Carter of Dorsey, Clifford Lynden Carter of Colorado, two grandchildren: Cheryl (Tony Crawford) Carter of Alton, Justin (Samantha) Carter of Honolulu, Hawaii, three great grandchildren: Allie Crawford, Evie Carter, Maddi Crawford, a sister: Dorothy Droste of Alton, many other extended family and friends.

Charlene was employed at Owens – Illinois Glass Works and later worked in the kitchen at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Clifford Leroy Carter, a sister: Darlene Poole, two brothers: Leo Telkamp and Eugene Telkamp.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor David Kern will officiate. Burial will be at Richland Cemetery in Boyleston, Illinois.

Memorials are suggested to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or Feeding America’s Hungry Children and will be accepted at the funeral home.
