Charles "Bop" Whitlock

Cottage Hills: Charles W. “Bop” Whitlock, 79, passed away at 10:40pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1941, in Big Ridge, Illinois, the son of the late William E. and Maynelle (Oliver) Whitlock. He married the former Elizabeth Beggs on October 24, 1961, in Carrier Mills, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter: Stacey Darr of Cottage Hills, a son and daughter in law: Chris and Susan Whitlock of Cottage Hills, four grandchildren: Charlie Darr, Ian and Whitney Darr, Olivia Whitlock, Charles Anthony Whitlock, five great grandchildren: James Boyd Wallace, Ember Reed, Elijah Reed, Scarlett Darr, Hunter Cummines, three sisters and two brothers in law: Margaret Trammel of Harrisburg, Illinois, Elizabeth and Terry Van Meter of Carrier Mills, Illinois, Barbara and Bert Trammel of Harrisburg, Illinois, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Bop owned and operated the Egyptian Construction Company for over thirty five years. He was the President of the Cottage Hills Fire Department. He was a former Madison County precinct committeeman. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials are suggested to the family to help cover medical expenses.
