Cheryl Smithberg

Rosewood Heights: Cheryl Smithberg, 64, passed away at 9:08am on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on January 3, 1957, in Wood River, the daughter of the late Ralph and Anna Marie (Hill) Bailey. She married Joseph E. Smithberg, Jr. and he preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Stephanie Ruminer of South Roxana, Kristi and Keith Pennington of Rosewood Heights, three grandchildren: Brandon Strader, J.J. Pennington, Anson Pennington, a brother and sister in law: Ronald and Kathy Bailey of Yulee, Florida, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Cheryl loved spending time with her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her grandchildren’s friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Lonnie Bailey. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois.
