Christine Anderson, 86, passed away at 6:15am on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 3, 1939, in Scottsville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James Heaverin and Rethel Lea (Claiborne) Combs. She married
James W. “Jim” Anderson on January 30, 1957, in Franklin, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2022. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Veronica and Charlie Krome of Wood River, her daughter in law: Rosemary Anderson of Wood River, two grandchildren: Christopher Anderson – Krome of Olney, Rebecca Rose and Nick Warren of Rosewood Heights, two great grandchildren: Dacota Anderson – Krome of Olney, CJ Anderson – Krome of Olney, a sister and brother in law: Joyce and Larry Nesler of East Alton, a brother: Rufus Combs of Franklin, Kentucky, a special nephew and his wife: Curtis and Joan Roberts of Wood River, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Christine worked as a hairdresser for over twelve years. Christine and her husband owned and operated Andy’s Heating and Cooling for thirty - one years retiring in 2010. She was a member of Peace Church in Granite City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Timothy Anderson and a brother: James Combs.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10:30am until time of funeral services at 12:30pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Cory Penn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to Peace Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
