David Lawrence Fleming

Alton: After a short but courageous battle with cancer, David L Fleming died peacefully at home in Alton, Illinois, on June 16, 2016, at the age of 52. Dave was born on January 3, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to John L and Rose Fleming. He graduated from St. Christina Elementary School and Marist High School in Chicago. He graduated from Bradley University in 1986 with a degree in Physics. He was a Health Physicist for CBI in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed ice fishing, but most of all enjoyed being with family and friends. Dave thoroughly enjoyed his single life for many years but knew when he met Geri that “she was the one for him!” After spending several years together, they married on December 12, 2015. Dave is survived by his wife, Geri; his mother, Rose Fleming of Chicago; mother-in-law, Dee Dee Wallace, of Alton; his stepchildren and grandchildren, Jessa Manns (Michael Stegall) and their children Mariah Allen, Robbie Davis and Mi’Kyla Stegall, and Ginny Manns (Ronald Russell) Anthony, Coley and Davontay Manns; his siblings, Denise (Pete) Toussaint, Dennis (Patti) Fleming, Debbie Fleming all of Chicago, Dan Fleming of Crestwood, Il, Bill Fleming of Oak Lawn, Il, Bridget(Dan) Brennan of Palos Heights, Il and Dianne Fleming of Bloomington, Il. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Dave was preceded in death by his father, John L Fleming; his grandparents, Raymond and Rose Hummer and John T and Elizabeth Fleming; aunts Norine Massman and Joan Halper and cousin Jeff Runfeldt all of Chicago. Dave would not want others to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, June25th beginning at noon at Pete’s Lounge-100 Big Arch Road, Godfrey. All family and friends are invited to come celebrate Dave’s life.
