Debra Johnson, 71, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at her residence. She was born on December 31, 1954, in Alton, the daughter of the late Donald and Janet (Swallow) Poleet. She married Robert Zumbaum and he preceded her in death. Debbie is survived by her son and daughter in law Jesse and Rachel Johnson of Ormond Beach, Florida daughter and son in law: Lisa and Derek Barnhart of Bunker Hill, Illinois: two step daughters and their husbands: Kim and Herb Mosby of South Carolina, Heather and Chad Williams of Prairietown, Illinois, her grandchildren: Ethan, Isabelle, Robbie, Aidan, Isaac, Chaise, Adalyn, Emma, Brayden, Trey, Sam, Madelyn, Zack, Caity, Jeremy, Ryan, Cody, Michael, and Shane, great grandchildren Lily, Damien, Kai, and Bennett. Her brother and sister in law: Paul and Tina Poleet of Arizona, her brother Robert Poleet of Missouri, plus many friends, family members, and coworkers.

A graduate of Roxana High School class of 1973, Debbie was formerly employed at Clark Refinery (Premcor), St. Anthony’s Hospital, and later retired from Asbury Village.

In addition to her parents and her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by a step daughter: Tracy Head, and a brother: Michael Poleet. Debbie will be remembered for her love of the beach, lighthouses, Cardinals baseball, and most of all her family.

In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite St. Louis Cardinal’s attire or your favorite shade of blue (her favorite color). Private burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
