Delores Walker

Wood River:

Delores Walker, 90, passed away at 6:20am on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Jerseyville Manor. She was born on May 17, 1933, in Clear Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Emmett and Martha (Florek) Aleckson. Survivors include her children: Mike and Sandy Walker of Bethalto, Jim and Debbie Walker of East Alton, Linda and Tim Zacha of Bethalto, Gary Walker of Wood River, Terry and Janet Walker of Moro , Larry Walker of Wood River, Sherri and Ron Wooden of Godfrey, Kerry and Jamie Walker of Wood River, her grandchildren: Mike Walker, Jason (Angie) Walker, Timmy (Christen) Walker, Mindy (Aaron) Gruebner, Danny (Tyessa Roper) Walker, Shana (Jason) Lewis, Jeremie (Kandis Boden) Sanders, Michelle (Dustin) Lilly, Renea (Justin) Wilhite, Teri (Aaron) Ward, Ryan Walker, Katie (Andrew) Russell, Jenna (Cameron) Foust, LJ Walker, Erika Dietrich, Brett Dietrich, Zach (Stephanie Wurth) Walker, Brendan (Nicole Wilmurth) Walker, Jayden Walker, several great grandchildren, several great – great grandchildren, a sister: Connie Anderson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

A homemaker, Delores was a member of the 1st Assembly of God in East Alton where she taught Sunday School, was formerly active in the Women’s Ministry, and the Missionettes. She was an avid reader, loved to pray, and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great – great grandmother. She was a Facebook icon and was known for Friday’s with momma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Sarah Walker, Jacob Josiah Walker, Jennifer Walker, a son in law: Scott Dietrich, a great granddaughter: Savannah Walker, her siblings: Marian Hartman, Jim Aleckson, Jerome Aleckson, and Russell Aleckson.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Keller will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
