Devin J. Carter

Wood River: Devin J. Carter, 27, passed away at 11:50am on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1993, in Alton, the son of Eric and Tara (Case) Carter. Survivors include his father: Eric of Wood River, his mother: Tara of East Alton, a sister: Savannah Carter of Independence, Missouri, a nephew: Ryder Alumbaugh of Independence, Missouri, his maternal grandparents: Kevin and Ellen Case of Godfrey, Willa Case of Alton, his paternal grandparents: James and Patsy Stephens of Bethalto, and many other extended family and friends. Devin excelled in sports, wrestling for Roxana before moving to Kearney, Missouri in 2007 attending Kearny High School. He also had a passion for baseball, cars, fishing, and hunting. Devin was a hard worker. He lived life in the fast lane, traveling the East Coast as a salesman for 4 years. With the ability to tell stories and make everyone laugh, he never met a stranger. Family was so important to Devin. He had a heart of gold and the sweetest, kindest soul. Devin will be sadly missed. Cremation rites will be accorded. Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements. Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
