Dewane Myers

Dewane Myers, 86, passed away at 9:55am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Alton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on October 8, 1938, in Gipsy, Missouri, the son of the late Avery “Pete” and MinnieEsta (Powell) Myers. He married the former Sheilia M. Schreier on June 20, 1959, in Bethalto, and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2019. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Shari and Jeff Bartlow of Opelika, Alabama, a son and daughter in law: Mike and Cindy Myers of Moro, six grandchildren: Zachary (Krista) Bartlow, Jordan (Jojo) Bartlow, Dustin (Michaela) Bartlow, Abby (Allen) Grice, Dylan Myers, Dalton Myers, three great grandchildren: Zander Bartlow, Rowan Bartlow, Jett Bartlow, two expectant great grandchildren, a sister and brother in law: Geraldine and Tom Thompson of Republic, Missouri, other extended family and friends.

Dewane and his wife Sheilia owned and operated Myers Welding for forty – seven years prior to his retirement. Dewane enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, travelling, flea markets and going to swap meets. He loved antique tractors and tinkering with anything mechanical.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Dewane was preceded in death by an infant brother: Kenneth.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 10:30am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to the Metro East Humane Society or BJC Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
