Dixie Mcgarvey Nesler

Roxana: Dixie Nesler, 98, passed away at 10:25am on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at her residence. She was born on October 4, 1919, in Greenville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Owen Leonard and Bertha (Milby) Kemp. She married Cameron McGarvey and he preceded her in death. She then married Richard Nesler and he also preceded her in death. Survivors include one son: Gary McGarvey of Roxana, two grandsons: Brian McGarvey of Roxana, Kevin McGarvey and his wife: Jamie of Bethalto, and three grandchildren: Aiden, Cameron, and Kaitlyn. Dixie was employed as the daycare manager at First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights prior to her retirement. She was a member of Whitelaw Avenue Baptist in Wood River. She enjoyed painting and drawing. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Dona, a son in law: Jim, a daughter in law: Judy, and two granddaughters: Janet and Debra. In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Chaplain Randy Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
