Dolores M. Dooley

Dolores M. Dooley, 82, passed away at 10pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at VIP Manor Nursing Home in Wood River while under the care of Unity Hospice. She was born February 26, 1931 in Alton, Illinois the daughter of the late Marion and F. and Ida L. (Daubman) Douglas. She married Vernard Dooley on September 5, 1980, in Alton and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2011. Survivors include her children and their spouses: Arlene and Benjamin Bickett of Alton, Larry Peal of Wood River, Marilyn and Bob Clyde of Alton, Vernard L. "Jay" and Helen Dooley Jr. of Melbourne, Florida, Kelly and Jim Fulkrod of Bethalto, Rebecca and Brian Carter of Alton, four grandchildren: Sarah Hausman, Nick Hausman, Max Vandiver, Ravin Vandiver, one great granddaughter: Meredith Hausman, and two sisters: Wanda James of Virden, and Mary Lou Strohbeck of Godfrey. She was formerly employed as a practical nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital, Wood River Township Hospital, and St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son: Steven Dooley, and a brother: Norman Douglas. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, 3993 Fosterburg Road, Alton, Illinois and will continue from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the church. Rev. Mark Scandrett will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
