Donald M. "Donnie" Barton, Jr.

Edwardsville: Donald M. “Donnie” Barton, Jr., 60, passed away at 3am on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on August 12, 1960, in Alton, the son of Donald M. and Vera (Gilless) Barton, Sr. of Edwardsville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter: Courtney Barton of Bunker Hill, Illinois, two sisters: Celesta Barton of Wilson, Texas, Yvonne Hollingsead of Bethalto, two nieces: Miranda Counts, Alexandra Hollingsead, and many other extended family and friends. Donnie was employed at Barton Contractors, Inc., River Bend Contractors, Inc., and then at Valley Contractors, Inc. prior to his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton where he used his beautiful voice in the choir and praise team. He also regularly participated in the Calvary Cares work crew. He loved gardening and was formerly a part of the Day Lily Club. He enjoyed hunting with his dad at the Barton Farm. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.
