Dorothy L. "Dotty" Dale

Cottage Hills: Dorothy L. “Dotty” Dale, 78, passed away at 5:07pm on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at her residence. She was born on July 17, 1940, in Alton, the daughter of the late Howard M. and Clara M. (Groppel) Milhime. She married Winfred Earl Dale, Sr. on May 31, 1957, in Virginia, Illinois, and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Pamela and Glenn Walker of Bunker Hill, Tina and Steven Doerr of Hamburg, three sons and two daughters in law: Winfred Earl and Debbie Dale II, of Alton, Troy and Becky Dale of Bunker Hill, Jason Dale of Cottage Hills, her grandchildren: Brandy Herron, Winfred Earl Dale III, Glenn Walker, Stephanie Doerr, Tonya Walker, Jonathan Dale, Jamie Waggoner, Misty Walker, a brother: Ivan Milhime, her brothers in law and sisters in law: Charles and Lana Dale, Margie Ramage, Berta Jackson, Artie and Lois Voyles, Donna Karpan, Joe and Marsha Harszy, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. A homemaker, Dorothy was formerly employed at Owens – Illinois Glass Works. She loved to play bingo, go to the casino, and bowl. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forest Homes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, Doug, Pete, and her sisters in law and brothers in law: Genevieve Sparks, Maxine Dale, Wilbur Dale, Stephen Dale, Charlie Karpan, and Ray Ramage. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm until time of funeral services at 7pm on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. Matthew McNealy will officiate. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral services. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Forest Homes and will be accepted at the funeral home.
