Alton: Edward “Ed” Howard, 75, passed away at 2:05am on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Robings Manor in Brighton. He was born on August 3, 1942, in East Alton, the son of the late Ross and Theo (Burjes) Howard. He married the former Iva Tucker on July 24, 1965, in Alton, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter and her companion: Deborah Kolesa and Jason Maneke of Alton, a son and his companion: Edward Howard II and Susan Schuetz of Alton, his special children: Greg and Tammy Richard of East Alton, Tracy and Karen Anthony of East Alton, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister and brother in law: Fran and Vernon Clark of Midway, two brothers and a sister in law: Paul and Pat Howard of Shipman, Jerry Howard of East Alton, and many other extended family and friends. Ed was employed at Olin Brass as a furnace operator for thirty – seven years prior to his retirement in 2002. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton. In his earlier years, Ed was active in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, woodworking, and old cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two half - brothers: Bud Howard and Jim Howard, and a grandson: Jacob Basham. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 1pm until time of memorial services at 4pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton. Private inurnment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, 3993 Fosterburg Road, Alton, Illinois 62002.
