Alton: Edward “Ted” Wallace, 89, passed away at 4:30am on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Riverside Rehab and Healthcare in Alton. He was born on November 1, 1930, in Jersey County, Illinois, the son of the late Claud and Ferral (Cunningham) Wallace. He married the former Lydia “Kathy” Gettings on January 18, 1969, in Fieldon, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Vicky and Jerry Allsman of Alton, Angie and Reggie Stapleton of Jefferson City, Missouri, three grandchildren: Jordyn Daniels, Courtney Tindall and her husband: Kevin “Caleb”, Cody Allsman, a great grandchild: Osias Tindall, a sister: Ruthann Summers of Bowling Green, Missouri, a brother and sister in law: Lonnie and Sharon Wallace of Brighton, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Ted was employed at Principia College in landscaping department for over twenty – six years prior to his retirement. Ted enjoyed drawing, chalk drawing, and drawing cartoons. He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Alton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Truman, Ira Thomas, Paul, two sisters: Janet Cope and Lois Slaughter. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
