Eric William Wood

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida: Eric William Wood, 33, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Eric was born in Alton, on June 2, 1984, the son of Joan L. (Pullen) Roberts and Curtis Roberts and the late Kelly R. Wood. Eric was a very gifted young man. He was very talented in many aspects of his life and loved to live life to the fullest. Eric was always a people person and he never met a person that didn’t eventually become his friend. Eric was raised by many who loved him – Grandma and Grandpa Pullen, Aunt Jean and Uncle Steve Kainz – he was never alone growing up due to his being sick as a child, but that never stopped Eric, he always bounced back and over came all obstacles to succeed in whatever he did. Eric attended Lewis & Clark Elementary School where he graduated from the 8th grade as a Silver Medallion honoree. Eric went on to attend East Alton-Wood River High where he graduated with honors in 2003. He then went on to attend Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois and SIU-E. Eric is survived by his Parents, Aunts and Uncles, Jean and Steve Kainz, John and Patty Pullen, Cousins Stephanie Kainz, who was the sister he never had, Nicole and Natalie Pullen, Christopher, Melissa, Kaiden and Conner Pullen. Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Larry Nesler, Aunts and Uncles Ginny and Frank Gifford, Leann and Kelly Walsh, cousins, Tyler and Bryant Walsh and Aunts and Uncles Ken and Donna Wood, Marsha and Max Goessman, as well as many other cousins and friends who loved him. Eric was proceeded in death by his biological father, Kelly R. Wood, Grandparents Janet and William Pullen, Dorothy Wood, Marshall and Scottie Wood. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, April 9, 2018, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights. Pastor Daryl Fansler will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
