Wood River: Ethel Mae Voyles, 85, passed away at 4:04pm on Monday, July 4, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville. She was born on November 23, 1930, in Alton, the daughter of the late Ed and Alice (Haus) Henderson. She married Herman Ray Voyles in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1978. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Gary and Pam Voyles of Wood River, Joe and Leah Voyles of Wildwood, Missouri, two grandchildren: Ethan Voyles and his wife: Kerri and Morgan Voyles. She was formerly employed as a manager at McCrory’s. She was the manager of linens at Sav - Mart. She worked at Country Meadows for 15 years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Harry, Lode, Clarence, Larry, and two sisters: Eleanor and Leona. In celebration of her life, private graveside services were held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Pastor Frank Sparks officiated. Memorials are suggested to New Hope Baptist Church, PO Box 25, Roxana, Illinois 62084.
