Evelyn M. Beemer

Alton: Evelyn M. Beemer, 92, passed away at 11:06am on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on October 5, 1924, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Clarence and Eva (Crowder) Morrow. She married Albert Beemer on September 19, 1940, in Bowling Green, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1990. Survivors include one daughter: Diana Wiseman of Alton, three sons and daughters in law: Bob and Linda Beemer of Alton, Larry and Pamela Beemer of Manning, South Carolina, Kenneth and Nell Beemer of Charleston, South Carolina, fourteen grandchildren, twenty – three great grandchildren, and one great – great grandchild. A homemaker, Evelyn was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a hand often saying “I don’t have much, but I have elbow grease.” When not helping her family, she did ironings, and enjoyed embroidery, gardening, bowling, and crocheting doilies. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: James, and two brothers and one sister. In celebration of her life, private visitation and funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. Mark Scandrett officiated. Burial followed at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to BJC Hospice.
