Floyd E. Fessler, Jr., 71, passed away at 1:55am on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Rivers Crossing in Alton. He was born on January 15, 1952, in Alton, the son of Floyd E. Fessler, Sr. and Shirley (Olden) Plunk. He married the former Jean Brooks on September 18, 1976, and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters and sons in law: Julie and Paul Oller of Roxana, Katie and Matthew Newton of Wood River, Sarah and Nick Daniels of Bethalto, his grandchildren: Jacqueline Wesley, Anna (Logan) Chandler, Lainey Phillips, Sophie Daniels, Madelyn Daniels, Quentin Daniels, Nicholas Newton, Jacob Newton, Joseph Newton, Leah Newton, a great grandson: Norris Dorsey, two sisters and a brother in law: Linda Wieneke, Cherie and Frank Rogg, a brother and sister in law: John and Heather Plunk, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Floyd was formerly employed at Conoco Phillips and later was employed as the Business Agent for the Operating Engineer’s Local #399. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and the Alton Knights of Columbus. Floyd was a professional bullshitter who loved gambling and karaoke.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
