Glenn Gale Tiller, 85, of Godfrey passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 14th. Glenn was born on July 25, 1939, in Murray, Kentucky. Gale moved to South Roxana as a teen and graduated from Roxana High School. He lettered in football and baseball. He went to work at Shell Oil Company where he retired after 30 years of service. On December 27, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart Sandra Smith Tiller, she survives. Gale was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and friend to all. Glenn is survived by his wife Sandra, son and daughter in law Thomas Gale and Melissa Tiller of Gillespie, daughter Traci Tiller of Godfrey, daughter in law Suzanne Tiller of St Louis. Grandchildren Thomas II (Kim) Tiller, Taylor (Corey) Gall, Eric (Loni Manalia) Tiller, Jordan Tiller, Jared (Aly Martin) Tiller. Great grandchildren Jocelyn, Amelia, Thomas III, Tatum Tiller and Graham and Gabrielle Gall. Sister Beverly Hodge, brother Phillip Tiller, brother in law Joe (Amy) Smith, sister in law Denise (Ron) Floyd, sister in law Teresa Smith, many beloved nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by parents Curtis and Charlie Tiller, sister Dorothy Jean Blasioli, brother in law Melvin Hodge, father and mother in law Joseph and Maxine Smith sister in law Deborah Berry and his precious and deeply loved son Terry Tiller.
He will be remembered by is kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He loved to play fast pitch softball and coached baseball, he loved to fish and was an avid fisherman, he loved to camp with his family and friends, he loved to travel. He served several years as president of Roxana High School Booster Club and served as a board member for Beverly Farms. He will be greatly missed but his legacy of love faith and devotion will forever be remembered
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastors Tom Malone and Cory Penn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Beverly Farm Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
