Hallene Palmer

Wood River:

Hallene Palmer, 87, formerly of Dorsey, passed away at 1:15pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Chapters Living of Edwardsville with her family by her side. She was born on September 5, 1938, in Alton, the daughter of the late Harold and Emma (Denother) Cathorall. She married Edgar Palmer on March 10, 1961, in Fosterburg, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2019. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law: David and Marla Palmer of Wood River, Steven and Kim Palmer of Highland, two sisters: Gertrude Cathorall of Aurora, North Carolina, Delores Jennings of Aurora, North Carolina, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Hallene was formerly employed at Alton Bottled Gas. She attended the Bethalto Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister: Marie Reiter.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30am until time of services at 11am on March 16, 2026, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Joel Lohr will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
