Wood River: Harold J. Boyd, Jr., 64, passed away at 6:14pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Highland Healthcare in Highland, Illinois. He was born on May 28, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of the late Harold J. and Helen Joyce (Choate) Boyd, Sr. He married the former Patsy Swift on February 5, 1979, in McLeansboro, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter and son in law: Angel and Donald Reed of Alton, four grandchildren: Jace Thomas Disher, Dylan Robert Reed, Alexis Nicole Hogg, Brooklyn Sophia Reed, three sisters and two brothers in law: Linda and William Thomas Nichols of Franklin, Kentucky, Lois and Ricky Armour of Hardinsburg, Kentucky, Rita Whidby of Franklin, Kentucky, three brothers: Eddie Boyd Sr. and his wife: Miriam of Franklin, Kentucky, Jack Boyd of Nashville, and Darrell Boyd of Clearwater, Florida. A laborer, he enjoyed ringing bells for the Salvation Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Becky Nichols. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial services will be held at 1:30pm on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
