Wood River:
Helen M. Harvey, 94, passed away at 6:10pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Bria of Wood River. She was born on December 8, 1929, in New Berlin, Illinois, the daughter of the late Carl F. and Lucille I. (Johnson) Meyer. In 1957, Helen met “Doc” Harvey at the Bon Air. She was sitting with a friend when a tall Texan walked in. She told her friend, I’m going to marry that guy. Six weeks later they were hitched. A marriage that last sixty – two years until his passing in 2020. Helen and “Doc” were stationed at various Air Force Bases throughout the United States. Upon retirement, they settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening for forty – two years of retirement. Survivors include two step sons: Eddie Harvey of Wichita Falls, Texas, Paul Harvey of Burkburnett, Texas, her nieces and nephews who were also her caregivers: Steve and Janice Meyer, David and Julie Meyer, Roger Meyer, Robert and Sue Budde, Paul and Vicky Budde, Mary Budde, Jim and Kathy Budde, Patricia (Steven Helfrich) Droit, her cousins: Paulette Nolan, Roseann Schardan, Juanita Greeling, Betty Sternical, and many other extended family.
Helen was employed at Owens – Illinois Glass Works for seventeen years in the selecting department.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister: K. Elaine Budde, her brother: William E. Meyer, her niece: Barbara Boger, and her nephew: Christopher Budde.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas,
