Cottage Hills: Henry C. Eichmiller, 66, passed away at 2:07am on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at his residence. He was born on June 18, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Victor Eichmiller and Gladys Waters. He married the former JoAnn Meador on May 5, 1995, in Alton, and she survives. Other survivors include one sister: Irene Walters (Don) of Danville, Indiana, his children: Victor Eichmiller (Delane) of Mt. Olive, Christine Morgan of Cheshire, England, Robert Bailey (Connie) of East Alton, Angela Coleman (Derek) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jacob Eichmiller of Cottage Hills. He was a proud grandparent of eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in the 196 Infantry Brigade during Vietnam. He was a member of Solid Rock Church of God in Granite City. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 2pm until time of services at 6pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Brian and Sharon Archer will officiate. The Ritual Team of VFW Post 1308 of Alton will conduct military honors following funeral services. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will follow. Private inurnment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
