Hobart Dawes Vantrease

Godfrey: Hobart Dawes Vantrease, 91, of Godfrey, Illinois went to be with the Lord Wednesday June 20 at 9:34 am. He was the son of the late Garret and Doris Vantrease. He was a Navy Veteran of WWll serving his country proudly. He married the former Mary Kozatos on April 29, 1951, and spent 67 wonderful years together, she survives. He retired from Laclede Steel after 37 years of service. After retiring, he loved volunteering at VIP Nursing Home and attending his church and bible study faithfully. He is survived by a son James Vantrease, Granddaughter's Cyndi Wright (Scott), Nyssa Gammaitoni (Chris), great grandchildren Aiden, Vickie and Jonathan Gammaitoni all of Alton, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister in law: Darlene Kozatos of Wood River, Illinois, his niece Sherry Starks (Steve) of Bethalto, Illinois, Jamie Webb (Steve) of Livingston, Illinois, his great nieces Amanda Starks of AshGrove, Missouri, Nicole Starks of Bethalto, Illinois, Janna Chestnut (Luke) of Staunton, Illinois, his great nephews Jason Tellor (Nicole) of Livingston, Illinois, Kyle Starks (Lindsey) of Alton, Illinois, his great - great nephews: Cole Starks of Bethalto, Illinois, Landyn and Keegan Starks of Alton, Illinois, Liam Tellor of Livingston, Illinois, and Cooper Chestnut of Staunton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry Vantrease , Orval Lee Vantrease and a sister Evelyn Corbin. In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9am until the time of funeral services at 11am on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Burial to follow at the chapel in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the Living Word Worship Center in Alton, Illinois.
