Wood River:
Irvin J. Lehr, 93, passed away at 9:20pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the emergency room at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born on June 29, 1930, in Kampsville, Illinois, the son of the late Edward and Magdelena (Ewen) Lehr. He married the former Mary Ann Geers on April 11, 1953, in Kampsville, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on November 2, 2013. Survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Patty (Rick Wooley) Lehr of Wood River, Beverly and Bob Hardy of Moro, his daughter in law: Janelle Lehr of Fidelity, his grandchildren: Amber (Chad) Crouch, Sabrina McGee, Nate Tucker, Allyson (fiancé: Grant Coffey) Hardy, Lauren Hardy, Kenny Lehr, Jr., six great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother in law: Ann and Steve Godar of Hardin, Edna Costrino of Valley Park, Missouri, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Irvin was employed as a machinist at Owens – Illinois Glass Works for forty – seven years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years, playing golf, going to the casino, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Wood River and the Alton Eagles Aerie #254.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son: Kenny Lehr, Sr., a grandson: Aiden Hardy, two sisters: Norene, Theresa, and a brother: Vincent.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9:30am until time of service at 11am on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Anselm’s Cemetery in Kampsville, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Angels Parish and will be accepted at the funeral home.
