James W. Allensworth

James W. "Sonny" Allensworth, 75, passed away at 1:30pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Blu - Fountain Manor in Godfrey. He was born on December 10, 1937, in Alton, Illinois the son of the late Hubert and Lena (Hoffman) Allensworth. He married the former Ruth Wilderman on July 12, 1958, in Alton and she survives. Other survivors include four daughters and a son in law: Edith Allensworth of Godfrey, Mary Manees of Fosterburg, Lori and Chris Hillman of Godfrey, Karen Allensworth of Godfrey, six grandchildren: Kassi, Mandy, J.D., Nyles, Ashley, Megan, two great grandchildren: Nicholas, Jamie, one sister and brother in law: Betty Jean and Leroy Sinks of Bethalto, two brothers and sisters in law: Hubert and Sharon Allensworth of Wood River, Arthur and Eileen Allensworth of St. Louis, Missouri. He was formerly employed as a tool and die maker at Wilderman Tool and Die and later at Boeing in St. Louis. He was a member of the Alton/Wood River Sportsman Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: James. In accordance wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Alton/Wood River Sportsman Club. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
