Bethalto: James L. Morton, 86, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at Alton Rehabilitation and Therapy. He was born on January 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Robert and Edna (East) Morton. He married the former Sherain Baker on September 22, 1984, in Bethalto, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter: Tina Richard, three sons and a daughter in law: Robert Morton, Mike and Carol Wallace, Jeff Wallace, two grandchildren and their spouses: Michael and Heather Wallace, Tara and Brad Pickett, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Jim was employed at Olin for over thirty – six years prior to his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bethalto. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
