James Tanner

Alton:

James Tanner, 71, passed away at 10:21pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his residence as a result of a house fire. He was born on December 22, 1951, in Alton, the son of the late Hubert and Violet (Gaither) Tanner. Survivors include two sons: Rob Tanner and his husband: David Mercer of Ironton, Missouri, John Thomas Tanner and his wife: Stacy of Alton, a daughter: Kelly Allsman and her husband: Greg of Jasper, Texas, four grandchildren, three sisters: Nancy Cox of Glen Carbon, Susie Derleth and her husband: Rick of St. Jacob, Illinois, Janie McCann and her husband: Dave of Fosterburg, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

James was formerly employed as a mechanic at Mick’s Auto Repair in Alton. He was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge #951, he enjoyed fishing, and hanging out on his front porch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Raymond Lowe and Richard Lowe.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
