Hartford: James H. Taylor, 75, passed away at 9:11am on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at his residence. He was born on January 28, 1945, in Pembroke, Kentucky, the son of the late Melvin and Eva (Atkins) Taylor. He married the former Nancy Kupsky on October 9, 1999, in Silver Dollar City and she survives. Other survivors include two sons: James F. Taylor of Granite City, Kyle Taylor of Hartford, two grandchildren: Maisie and Katelyn, two brothers and sisters in law: Paul and Millie Taylor of Herrin, Illinois, Richard and Sue Taylor of Granite City, a special niece and her family: Mary and Jeff Gibson of Granite City, and many other nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Jim was employed as a truck driver and later worked in dispatch at Shell Oil for many years prior to his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton. He loved helping people, horses, and big animals. He was a volunteer at Community Hope Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Kevin Taylor, and many sisters and brothers. In celebration of his life, the family will hold memorial services at 11am on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Scandrett will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family or to the 5A’s .
