Jean Hill

Wood River: Jean Hill, 82, passed away at 10:25am on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 13, 1933, in East Alton, Illinois the daughter of the late Leroy and Dorothy (Fulkerson) Conner. On November 2, 1951, she exchanged vows with Odie R. Hill at the First Baptist Church in Hartford. They later joined the 1st united Methodist Church of Wood River. To this union, four daughters were born, Susan DiSalvo of Wood River, Nancy Martin of Wood River, Debbie Potter of Wood River, Donna Karpan of Rosewood Heights. Jean always claimed to have the best sons in law ever: Ron Martin, John Potter, and Randy Karpan. Jean is also survived by eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Kelli and Kevin Inman, Amy and Travis Zeller, Laurie and Drew Mortland, Emily Martin, Kimberly Potter, Katie and Andy Huff, Dustin Potter, Nikki Potter, Timothy Potter, Kristen and Tim Gusewelle, Justin Karpan, nine great grandchildren: Evan Jensen, Austin Martin, Ezra Martin, Alexa Zeller, Bodhi Inman, Kimara Anderson, Joey Mortland, Ellie Gusewelle, Addison Huff, one sister: Gail Howden of Ingleside, Texas, and a step brother: David Singer of Florida. She graduated from Alton High School in June of 1951 having spent all her life in the Wood River area. Odie was called to serve in the Army going to Korea and Jean was hired at the Brass Mill Office. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the funeral home. Pastor Kim Allen will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the 1st United Methodist Church of Wood River or to BJC Hospice of Alton and will be accepted at the funeral home.
