John Stephen Surovec

Bethalto: John Stephen Surovec, 37, passed away at 10:27pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018, in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 17, 1980, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of James and Vicki (Perrine) Surovec of Centerville, Ohio. He married the former Tonya Zeller on January 6, 2011, in Edwardsville, and she survives. In addition to his parents and his wife, other survivors include two sons: Dylan Surovec and Nolyn Surovec of the home, one brother: David Surovec of Los Angeles, California, his father in law and mother in law: Tony and Tammy Zeller of East Alton, his paternal grandparents: Mike and Shirley Tidwell of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, his grandparents in law: Bunyan Zeller of East Alton, Ron and Judy Miller of Moro, two brothers in law and a sister in law: Chris and Jenny Zeller of South Roxana, Nathan Zeller of East Alton, and many other extended family and friends. John was employed at Alton Steel as a Business Analyst of Operations. John loved music and was an extremely talented songwriter and guitar player. In his free time, he had a passion for computers. Above all else, his number one priority was being a great husband to his wife and a great dad to his boys. In celebration of his life, private services will be held. Pastor Bill Pyatt will officiate. Memorials are suggested to an educational fund for Dylan and Nolyn with checks payable to Tonya Surovec.
