John W. Whitten

Wood River: John W. Whitten, 76, passed away at 6:41pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at his residence. He was born on February 26, 1941, in Cottage Hills, Illinois, the son of the late Homer C. and Mary M. (Turnbeaugh) Whitten. Survivors include a daughter and son in law: Mary and Monte Cope of Wood River, a son: Robert Whitten of East Alton, six grandchildren: Hope, Rosie, Robert, Brandon, Kayla, Robbie Jr., two great grandchildren, and a brother and sister in law: Charlie and Marilyn Cason of St. Charles, Missouri. John was formerly employed as a landscaper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter: Marlie Rae Baca. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 6pm until time of memorial services at 7pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
