Judith M. "Judy" Staggs

Wood River: Judith M. Staggs, 78, passed away at 8pm on Monday, January 29, 2018, at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was born on December 26, 1939, in Belleville, the daughter of the late Cletus and Laverne (Kettler) Schmidt . She married Bennie Staggs on November of 1969, in Edwardsville, and he preceded her in death on June of 2006. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Tracey and James Johns of Wood River, Ruth Wallace and Romeo Muca of Wood River, three step – sons and their wives: David and Donna Staggs of Alton, Robin and Brenda Staggs of Roxana, Garry and Mary Staggs of Fieldon, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one sister: Joyce Thompson of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. A homemaker, Judy enjoyed sewing and was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Wood River. She cared for her son Jerry for twenty – eight years prior to his passing. In addition to her parents, her husband, and her son, she was preceded in death by two brothers. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
