Kaelan Q. Turner

June 6, 2003 — July 28, 2020

Alton: Kaelan Q. Turner, 17, passed away at 6am on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his residence. He was born on June 6, 2003, in Alton, the son of Dustin and Cristalle (Rayborn) Turner of Alton. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters: Addison Turner, Bellah Turner, Seren Turner, two brothers: Tristan Turner, Owyn Turner, his maternal grandparents: Thomas and SueEllen Rayborn of Alton, his paternal grandparents: Robert and Stephanie Turner of Holden, MO, his maternal great grandparents: Wilbur and Patricia Helmkamp of Moro, his paternal great grandparents: Mary Turner of Oak Grove, MO, Joe and Joyce Keck of Warrensburg, MO, aunts and uncles: Nathanael and Christine Rayborn of Edwardsville, IL; Anna and Keith Meffert of Dorsey, IL; Emma and Dalton Brake of Godfrey, IL; Niki and Donald Shults of Dallas, TX; Trevor and Andrea Turner of Roundrock, TX; and Zachary Turner of Kansas City, KS as well as many cousins, other extended family and friends and his beloved cat Leo. From the time Kaelan was little bitty he was known for his head of hair—curls that people just couldn’t resist touching or commenting on. If you spent any time with Kaelan, however, you would know how deep and big he loved…..It didn’t matter if you were rich or poor, young or old, Kaelan gave space and time and dignity to everyone he met—from his littlest cousin to the homeless man that needed money, he really saw people and had this amazingly gentle way of stepping into life with them. Kaelan had a gift for finding beauty everywhere he went. No vacation was complete without Kaelan finding the tiniest lizard in the dessert, the most perfect shark tooth on the beach or the most gorgeous patch of moss hidden in the woods. Kaelan was usually pretty quiet which made his laughter one of the best sounds in the world and being on the receiving end of one of Kaelan’s wry smiles could make anyone’s day. Kaelan was created beautiful and unique, he loved without bounds and was loved well in return Kaelan was employed at Farm and Home in Alton where he was a cashier. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents: Charles and Lucille Rayborn and his paternal great grandpa: Bill Turner. Cremation rites have been accorded. In celebration of his life, a private celebration will be held. Memorials are suggested to Stray Haven Rescue.
