Bethalto: LaVerne M. Lueker, 86, passed away at 6.30 am on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, Illinois. She was born on August 5, 1929. When she was two years old she was adopted by Fred and Louis (Blase) Lueker of Worden, Illinois and joined two adopted brothers Allen and Elmer. LaVerne attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School near Hamel, IL. She worked at Olin Corporation in East Alton, Illinois for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hamel. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going out to eat, and attending church. LaVerne is survived by two nieces who helped her with many things, Lee La Donna Healey of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Gladys (Glenn) Riepshoff Sr. of Alhambra, Illinois, and other nieces Sylvia (Tom) Stallings, North Charleston, South Carolina, Mildred (Junior) Linenfeiser, Marine, Illinois and nephews Warren (Leslie) Lueker, Scottsdale, Arizona, Elmer (Linda) Lueker, San Diego, California and Lloyd (Karen) Lueker, Litchfield, Illinois, and many great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Allen A. Lueker and Elmer L. Lueker Sr., and two sister-in-laws Frieda (Henke) Lueker-Jones and Rosella (Wolf) Lueker. LaVerne requested that her body be gifted to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri for education research and advancement of medical science. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 7:30pm on Saturday evening, May 14, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hamel. This service will follow the scheduled 6pm Saturday evening Worship Service at St. Paul’s. Rev. Ball and Rev. Gleason will officiate. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the family.
