Rosewood Heights: Lavonne C. Collman, 77, passed away at 8:35am on Friday, November 27, 2015, in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 17, 1937, in Madison County, Illinois, the daughter of the late George Rolla and Eleanor Rose (Bloemker) Best. Survivors include two daughters and a son in law: Tammy and Kevin Carr of Bethalto, Kim and Mitch Ulett of Bethalto, a daughter in law: Kim Collman of East Alton, five grandchildren: Victoria Collman, Christopher Collman, Jaclyn Carr, Jamie Carr, Jacob Ulett, two great – grandchildren: Olivia Garcia, Nadia Collman, and one sister and brother in law: Vida and James Knecht of East Alton. She was employed as a registered nurse in the pediatric department at Alton Memorial Hospital for 40 years prior to her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Southwestern Illinois Hemerocallis Society and the Platinum Club at First MidAmerica Credit Union. She enjoyed watching the birds, traveling, sewing, gardening, snow skiing, and tole painting. She loved to spend time with her family and called it fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son: Mark Collman, and one sister: Nelda Best. In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be accepted at the funeral home.
