Hartford:
Lora Jerman, 70, passed away at 5:52pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in the emergency room at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born on May 12, 1955, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of the late Walter “Papa” and Elsie Marie Van Meter. She married Clifford Jerman on February 25, 1978, in Cairo, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter: Morgan (Jason) Jerman - Quigley of Hartford, a son: Mason Jerman of Hartford, a grandson: Tristen Jerman, a great niece: Faith Story, two bonus granddaughters: Addy Quigley, Madi Gould, nephews: Eric Jerman, Aaron Van Meter, a niece by choice: Sunney Hinman, her sisters in law: Ruth, Betty Joe, Shirley Kay, Terry, her brother in law: John, and many other extended family and friends.
Lora was employed for over forty years as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Clare’s Hospital, and St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was the past PTA President, room mom, a party planner, and a baker who was loved baking with her chocolate molds. She was a wonderful wife, mom, and grandma. She was a member of Mighty Rivers Church in Cairo formerly known as Cairo Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Donna Marie Story, a niece: Deana Story, and a brother in law: Glen Jerman.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the funeral home. Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
