Lucille Carter, 77, passed away at 8:51am on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Gateway Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 11, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. Survivors include three sons: Jerome Ortiz Carter Washington of Maryland, Pierre Carter and his fiancé: Angela of Washington D.C., Maurice Montez Carter Washington of East St. Louis, three grandchildren: Reginald DeRay Hickson, Jordyn Hickson, Elizabeth Hickson, an expectant grandson, several great grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends.


Lucille was formerly employed as a housekeeper at Mitch Merch Maintenance Company in St. Louis. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Washington D.C.


She was preceded in death by two sons: Kevin Carter, Willie Carter, three sisters: Velma Dunn, Thelma Jeffreys, Big Helen Morehead, and one brother: Willie James Walker.


In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, Illinois.
